3/1/2023 0 Comments Hearts of iron 4 space marines![]() Unfortunately most of the early records of the Iron-Bound Thanes were lost in the destruction of the Chapter's original fortress-monastery, Tol Elmoth, in M37 when the Blood God-worshipping World Eaters Traitor Legion attacked their homeworld, Taur-Hithlum. Created sometime during the 4 th or 5 th Founding, and from uncertain lineage, they were formerly known as the Iron-Bound Thanes, and are the parent chapter of the Exalted Paladins. The Ashen Thanes are one of the oldest, non-founding chapters in the Imperium. They hold the belief that eventually, Sanguinius will return and restore the Emperor to his original power, and together the two of them will lead the Imperium to greatness once again. The Angels Vampiric are loyal to the God-Emperor of Mankind, however they have been known to worship their Primarch Sanguinius more so than they worship the Emperor. ![]() The highest ranking of these test-subjects, a sergeant by the name Count Orlok took up the position of chapter master of the new chapter. After the experiment was declared a failure, it was decided that instead of purging the subjects of the experiment, a new chapter would be created from the surviving test-subjects. The experiment in question was meant to cure the Blood Angels of the dreaded 'Twin-Flaws' known as the Red Thirst and the Black Rage, however, it went horribly wrong and instead amplified these genetic flaws. Founded around M34 as the result of a failed secretive experiment. The Angels Vampiric are a non- Codex compliant, fleet-based Successor Chapter of the heroic Blood Angels Space Marine Chapter. The Angels now seek to repent for their past sins and seek to regain their former grace amongst their fellow Unforgiven. The Angels Mortis would be defeated in this war and for their ignorance were excommunicated from the Unforgiven and left as a broken chapter. However, their legacy of dedicated and stalwart service has been tarnished by accusing their fellow Unforgiven chapters, the Silver Lions and Ebon Angels, of heresy and collaborating with the Fallen leading to the War of the False Traitor. For most of their history the chapter focused on the gathering of holy artefacts linked to the Primaris Angelus Mortis and bringing the word of the God-Emperor to all across the galaxy, whilst mercilessly purging those who refused it. The chapter has its own unique view of the Imperial Creed leading them to view the Lion as the first Imperial saint and the Emperor's Angel of Death who will guide them to the Emperor's side. The BFG cannons would still more or less invalidate heavy tank armour, but at least it would provide more reliable protection from MTD space marines. The Angels Mortis are a devoutly religious 23 rd 'Sentinel' Founding chapter who claim the lineage of the First Legion and the bloodline of the holy Primaris Angelus Mortis. We can see from posts like this one how hard it can be to get a 'medium' tank formation up to 125 armour. Even if we step down from super heavy cannons, we can fit a high velocity 3 with 308 (123.2 from highest) piercing, or heavy cannon 3 with 261.8 (104.72 from highest) piercing onto medium TD. And while those guns certainly are expensive and eat a lot of resources, they aren't nearly as expensive or eat near so many resources as what you'd have to do to make a tank formation with more than 170 armour, we'd be in the same situation with tanks being slaughtered if we allowed space marines. ![]() Make it squeezy in an HTD battalion with +40%, thats 423.5 piercing, and the 40% highest of which alone is 169.4 piercing. Now, they have since adjusted the vehicle counts for TD to make them more expensive, but the very existence of something like the super heavy cannon with its ridiculous 275 base piercing is bonkers. An 8 infantry 2 HTD3 with +5 gun and some modicum of supports could pierce/hold against even the sweatiest 40w tank formations while being a fraction of the cost, it made the eastern front super grindy and largely considered, unfun. It could generally be much more cheaply countered by having small amounts of piercing, but the bigger issue in the Before Times was that heavy TD had huge amounts of piercing, and using half the vehicle count of tanks, were extremely cheap. Low amounts of armour to have advantage over enemy infantry generally wasn't really that big of a problem, though it could still be a problem. Like others have said, certain servers will make special exceptions like tank recon, certain tank variants, or being allowed to mix marines with amphibious tanks, or whatever other exception they want. 'leg infantry' taking the category from the game (also known as light infantry), including typical infantry, marines, mountaineers, paratroopers, and bikes. I've tried to simplify the definition to, anything that goes through the new tank designer can't be in a formation that also has leg infantry or cav/cam.
